An assortment of leger weights

There're many different types of leger weights and some are shown in my hand. The smallest weight shown is 6 grams (0.20oz) and the largest 60 grams (20 oz).

If you're fishing at short range and in still water then a small weight is OK, but if you're fishing at a distance or in strong flow, then you'll need a heavy weight.

You can use a float while legering at short range and this has a couple of advantages, (1) it allows you to see the bites and (2) gives you the location of where the bait is on the bottom.

In legering, you can use a hair-rig, pop up rig, bolt rig, Paternoster rig, swimfeeder and many more advanced types too. So if you would like a free advanced rig booklet that goes well beyond my basic legering then email me your details.

Finally, with legering you can use a bite alarm and pod and this allows you to sit back and enjoy yourself!
