You must have a valid permit to fish Trow PoolWe're not a syndicate closed water with big specimen fish but are open to all. However, you'll never catch a 30lb carp because there aren't any but with skill and some luck you could easily bag a carp or two into double figures. The biggest carp (called fat lady) is around 20lb.

You can catch carp (mirror, common, ghost and leather), tench, roach, rudd, perch and goldfish. There's talk of a pike and this may be a fishy story but let us know if you catch it!

Now the boring stuff, the rules. You must have a valid permit and rod licence. Use only barbless hooks, a landing net, disgorger and /or forceps. Never keep carp in a landing net or carp sack but release them back into the water as quickly as possible after landing -see checklist. Treat all fish with loving care - see carp features and handling.

All terminal tackle (weights, float and rigs) must release if the main line (8lb or greater) breaks. Definitely no fires and leave site clean and tidy. No dogs (except guide). Juniors (under 16) to be accompanied by an adult permit holder. See also The 10 Commandments
