LEFT is a photo of a large white butterfly snapped at Trow in early September 2007, latin name pieris brassicae.
Large white's are the Ford Mondeo of the butterfly world and very common along with the small white which is even more so.
If you can't spot one of these between May - September at Trow Pool then there's no hope for you!
Upperwings are a creamy-white with black tip to the forewing. Caterpillars (scourge of the gardener) are black and yellow and feed on cabbages and other garden brassicas.
