This is a picture of an orange-tipped butterfly and one of my favourites.
You’ll easily spot it at Trow Pool but only during April to June. It's not striking in appearance but in flight great to watch as it slowly dances through the air.
The bright orange-tip warns birds and other predators that it’s not nice to eat and highly distasteful.
Only the males have the orange-tipped forewings (eat your heart out ladies); females have small black tips (how bland).
